Our Background

Three decades of practice across audit, taxation, advisory, and cross-border matters.

Over the past three decades, GSV has evolved into a multi-disciplinary practice, supporting clients across audit, taxation, advisory, and cross-border matters. The firmโ€™s approach has consistently focused on delivering meaningful value through a combination of technical depth and practical insight, extending beyond traditional compliance services.

Established in 1993 and registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in the same year, GSV was founded by first-generation professionals. The firm began its journey in a modest manner โ€” building its practice in income tax and internal audits, and gradually building its reputation through on-time service and a thoughtful approach to problem-solving.

Today, GSV Associates LLP comprises five partners and a team of over thirty, supported by a robust network of audit and legal specialists. Based in Kodambakkam, Chennai, the firm serves clients across a wide range of industries and geographies, with a structured, corporate approach to its services, processes, and governance. The firm is peer reviewed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, reflecting its commitment to maintaining quality and consistency in professional engagements.

A defining aspect of GSV is its blend of experience and evolving capability. Senior professionals bring depth in technical knowledge and practical insight through extensive hands-on experience, complemented by a younger team contributing to technology-driven audit, analytics, and process optimisation. This combination enables a balanced approach to engagements and continues to shape how the firm delivers its services in line with evolving client expectations.

With the liberalisation of trade in India during the 1990s, GSV expanded into specialised areas under the WTO framework, including anti-dumping, countervailing, and safeguard measures. This was complemented by a growing focus on international taxation, particularly in addressing issues arising from double taxation of income.

Through sustained engagement, participation in international forums, and continued investment in technical capabilities, the firm developed a practical understanding of cross-border tax mattersโ€”integrating accounting, costing, and legal perspectives to provide workable solutions and support clients in cross-border trade and investment activities.

Our Approach

Practical insight. Independent thinking. Collaborative execution.

Our approach to engagements is grounded in understanding each clientโ€™s specific requirements, business environment, and regulatory context. We aim to deliver practical, well-rounded solutions that combine technical depth with a clear understanding of business realities.

We view our role as constructive rather than fault-finding. Rather than limiting ourselves to identifying issues, we work alongside management to understand the underlying causes, suggest practical improvements, and contribute to informed decision-making. Wherever possible, we seek to anticipate matters rather than react to them after the fact.

Each engagement is supported by a competent team and guided by experienced professionals, ensuring independence, sound judgement, and confidentiality. Our work is governed by established professional standards and supported by internal review processes to maintain consistency, integrity, and quality. As part of this approach, every audit engagement undergoes an internal peer review prior to sign-off, providing an additional layer of objectivity.

We follow a structured and collaborative approachโ€”working closely with management to assess risks, understand operational dynamics, and provide inputs that support informed decision-making.

With increasing reliance on technology in business operations, we also integrate technology-driven approaches, including data analytics, system-based reviews, and process optimisation, to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our work.

Our Future Direction

Evolving with changing business realities.

While the firm's foundation has been built over three decades, our outlook remains forward-looking and adaptive. As businesses continue to operate in an environment shaped by regulatory reform, technology adoption, and increasing cross-border activity, we see a growing need for advisors who can bring together technical depth, practical judgement, and a multi-disciplinary perspective.

In the years ahead, GSV intends to grow in a structured manner โ€” strengthening its existing practice areas, deepening its capabilities in technology-enabled audit and advisory, and progressively building specialised divisions, including an in-house legal division, to serve clients on more complex and integrated mandates.

Our objective is to continue evolving as a multi-disciplinary firm that supports clients meaningfully, with the same emphasis on quality, independence, and long-term relationships that has guided the firm since its inception.
